Health Programmes

Medicaid Foundation has a growing portfolio of health programmes that contribute to strengthening Nigeria's healthcare system. We engage with policymakers at both state and federal levels to advocate for the reform of primary healthcare service delivery and the adoption of universal health coverage.

As part of our ongoing support to the Government of Nigeria's efforts to eradicate polio and fortify routine immunization (RI) systems, we are implementing the Kebbi State Polio Outbreak Response Project. This project is a collaboration with the Kebbi State Primary Health Care Development Agency’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and other key partners. It is designed to enhance the coordination, data reporting, and coverage of routine immunization services at the state and local government levels.

Women and Child Rights

Women and Child Rights

Medicaid Foundation advances the rights of women and children through targeted interventions at both the community and institutional levels. We facilitate dialogue between influential voices from conservative and progressive groups to foster changes in attitudes and behaviors regarding women's rights.

Our community-level work prioritizes Northern Nigeria, where we implement awareness campaigns to end the culture of silence around gender-based violence. We use methodologies that extend beyond traditional media to reach a wider population. At the institutional level, we advocate for the domestication of women and child rights laws at the state level across Nigeria.

Economic Empowerment

Economic Empowerment

Medicaid Foundation drives economic empowerment by implementing targeted interventions that create sustainable livelihoods for women at both the community and institutional levels. Our programs are designed to build the capacity of women to become active and productive agents in their communities.

At the community level, we provide comprehensive support to women's cooperatives to help them grow their enterprises. This includes:
Access to Capital: We provide seed funding and essential stock to help women launch and expand their businesses. This is coupled with assistance to access broader financial services.
Capacity Building: We deliver a combination of professional and vocational training to ensure women can effectively apply their skills and establish profitable economic operations. We also provide dedicated financial literacy programs for women without a formal education.

At the institutional level, we work to create a supportive environment for women entrepreneurs. Our advocacy efforts and partnerships are geared toward improving access to financial services and resources, ensuring that the systems in place enable, rather than hinder, the economic advancement of women across Nigeria.

Education

Education

Medicaid Foundation is dedicated to advancing access to quality education and strengthening primary and vocational education in Northern Nigeria. Our programs are designed to address systemic barriers at the institutional level while delivering innovative, on-the-ground interventions at the community level.

School Without Walls project is a prime example of this work, using a pilot project to deliver quality basic education to children in three hundred households in remote communities in Kebbi State. This project uses the Interactive Audio Instruction (IAI) methodology via radio to reach children who are hard to reach through conventional school structures.

360 school club programme in selected schools in Kebbi State, providing after-school support to students. These clubs offer supplementary resources to build literacy and numeracy competence using creative approaches like music and arts to reinforce the national curriculum.

The foundation's approach is designed to create scalable and lasting change. We work in partnership with key government agencies, such as the Kebbi State Ministry of Education and the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), to implement and validate our pilot projects.
